Book Week Celebrations!

Well what an exciting week we have had!
Our first visitor was Mandy Foot and she spoke and drew for the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 students.  She shared stories about her books and entertained the students by drawing some fabulous pictures for us!

Our second visitor was Dan McGuiness, a graphic artist, who came and spoke to the Year 3 -7 students.  He talked about how he became a graphic artist and his love of comic fiction.  Incidentally he attended Flagstaff Hill R-7 School!

During the term our students have been reading the 6 short listed Early Picture Books and students, after reading each book, were able to vote on what they considered the best book.   From our school our students voted for Chip by Kylie Howarth as being their favourite book.   However, the Children’s Book Council of Australia judges deemed “Go Home Cheeky Animals” as the winner for this year.

Then Thursday saw our fabulous Book Week Assembly! Our students and staff did a fantastic job of dressing up for our parade!   We had some truly amazing costumes!

A fantastic job everyone!
